\r\n\t\t\tS-Cool Link project\t\t<\/h2>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStudents from Regent Academy, Weija, participated in a #treeplanting exercise on Thursday, July 24, 2025, contributing #environmentalsustainability effort.\n\nOver 100 seedlings were planted, comprising a mix of economic trees, shade trees, and various fruit trees.\n\nThis initiative was a key component of the S-Cool Link project, spearheaded by the Sustainable Development Alliance Ghana in collaboration with the Suahunu ECO-Clubs of Regent Academy. The activity falls within the government’s broader #TreesforLife initiative, which advances afforestation and agroforestry across the nation.\n\nThe activity engaged the students, many of whom expressed excitement about adopting the trees they planted to nurture them into maturity. For many, it was their first time ever planting anything, offering a hands-on lesson in environmental stewardship and the art of transplanting seedlings into the field.\n\nTheir direct involvement aims to instill a sense of responsibility and encourage students to become lifelong stewards of the #environment from a young age.\nSusDA’s overarching strategy for #environmentalsustainability centers on the active involvement of young people in sustainable activities, recognizing their role in achieving broader #climateimpact.\n\nThis tree planting event at Regent Academy highlights this goal of raising a generation of environmentally conscious citizens.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAs the name implies, the Suahunu project (a Twi word meaning experience) is a flagship initiative of SusDA focused on experiential learning. This initiative aims at building the capacity of young people to become environmental stewards and active participants in combating climate change. By engendering a deep connection with nature and promoting sustainable practices, we seek to raise a generation of environmentally conscious citizens. The project has four main components, 1) Urban Forestation (including tree planting and nurturing; 2) Communication for Change (focusing on public education and awareness raising) 3) Sustainable Agriculture (including\/school and home gardening) and 4) Renewable Energy and waste recycling (including the use of innovative\/scientific techniques) The key target population of the project is children and youth using the eco club strategy. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The depleting urban tree cover presents a gloomy outlook and there is a need for an immediate response. This component includes tree planting and nurturing exercises. With our concept of \u201cone child, one tree\u201d, we organize periodic juvenile tree planting exercises in communities and schools. The young people are encouraged to take an interest in the nurturing and growth of the trees they plant. Suahunu and partner schools and clubs participate actively in Green Ghana Day activities.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <!-- Communication for Change -->\n <div class=\"accordion-item\">\n <input type=\"checkbox\" id=\"c4c\">\n <label for=\"c4c\">Communication for Change (C4C)<\/label>\n <div class=\"accordion-content\">\n <p>\n No issue is more urgent than human-induced environmental destruction and climate change. It is imperative to amplify the discussion to increase awareness and drive meaningful action. The communication for change is a crosscutting component that uses diverse communication approaches and media to reach out to children, youth, religious bodies, and communities with information on climate change and how to mitigate its impact.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <!-- Sustainable Agriculture -->\n <div class=\"accordion-item\">\n <input type=\"checkbox\" id=\"agriculture\">\n <label for=\"agriculture\">Sustainable Agriculture<\/label>\n <div class=\"accordion-content\">\n <p>\n Building resilience against threats to food security requires emphasis on sustainable agriculture. Suahunu encourages and practices urban gardening at homes, schools, and communities. The project aims to economically empower young women from urban poor communities in the Ga East Municipalities of Greater Accra. S-Cool-Links is an online interactive platform that unites teachers globally in pursuit of an exchange to promote climate change education. The platform welcomes every primary and secondary school teacher who is willing to learn more about climate change education and act through their classroom by designing lesson plans and\/or hands-on school climate projects. The project involves eco-tourism, education and sensitization, inter-school climate change festivals, and tree planting and nurturing exercises. In May 2024, the SusDA team, in collaboration with the Assemblyman, Hon Cornelius Addo, and Unit committee members of the Atomic Electoral area, Future Stars, and Ascot School, conducted a tree monitoring exercise. This exercise focused on trees planted during the Green Ghana Day celebrations in 2022 and 2023. The monitoring included areas such as Ashongman Estates, St. John’s Grammar, Ascot School, and Adma Junior High School in Adjiriganor. The monitored tree species included coconut, cassia, and palm trees.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3672616 e-con-full e-flex e-con reconnect them with their families and provide support for their educational needs. The project aims to promote inclusive education and promote the rights of children. It also provides school fees and other school logistics that support children and young teenagers\u2019 education at the basic, junior high school, and Senior Secondary School levels.<\/p><p><strong>Food for All<\/strong>: The Food for All project offers free food to children during Christmas. The aim is to make them feel inclusive and recognize good food during the festive season.
