Christopher Akoto, once on the Streets

Christopher Akoto was a street-connected child in Tarkwa, in the Western Region. Akoto, a thirteen-year-old orphan and native of Awudua near Tarkwa, was staying with his aunt at Nzema Akropong. He has returned to school to study at Farm of Hope International School in Takoradi.

Blessed Gidisu, a five-year-old girl, had bilateral knock knees due to congenital knee dislocations on both sides (bilateral) and severely rigid club feet. She had difficulty walking due to this condition and could not go to school, although she was enrolled at Adedome Basic School. She was referred to SusDA by the Girl Child Officer at GES, Mamfe Adedome. SusDA provided funding for orthopedic surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dzodze, to correct the condition. The surgery was successful. She went through physiotherapy exercises at the Nsawam Government Hospital after the surgery and has since been discharged and resumed school.
